What We Do
Speaking Up for You is a Top Priority
The Center for Employment Justice (CEJ) advocates for individuals who have faced workplace injustices. Our clients have been subjected to unfair employment practices, harassment, constructive dismissal, emotional abuse, and other unlawful treatment in the workplace. Many have experienced unjust demotions, been unfairly denied promotions, or been deprived of the compensation they rightfully deserve. CEJ is committed to holding employers accountable for these violations and securing appropriate remedies for those who have been wronged.
While our clients come from diverse backgrounds, we cannot overlook the disproportionate impact of workplace inequality on women of color. Black and Latina women, in particular, experience higher rates of harassment, receive less professional support, and face systemic barriers to career advancement. These injustices persist across both the private and public sectors—including law enforcement, the military, government agencies, and state legislatures.
At CEJ, we stand as unwavering advocates for these women, utilizing every legal tool available to challenge unlawful employment practices and obtain justice—whether through compensation, policy reform, or other forms of redress.
The Law is on your side
U.S. employment law and civil rights statutes provide strong protections against workplace discrimination and unfair treatment. However, far too many employees who experience these injustices are unable to challenge them—whether due to fear of retaliation, lack of resources, or limited awareness of their rights.
The psychological toll of workplace mistreatment can be severe, often leading to symptoms comparable to those of Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD), along with the financial strain of lost income. These unlawful practices not only violate legal protections but also have lasting consequences for individuals and their families.
Ensuring that employees can assert their rights and seek redress is critical to upholding workplace justice and accountability.
Our Five Promises
1) We promise to be honest with you. We will give you a full and fair assessment of your case, and more importantly, to carefully ascertain what outcome you truly want.
2) We promise to be on YOUR side. We take cases we think we can win, but we don’t need everything to be perfect, and don’t expect every case to be easy. Sometimes, it takes a commitment to fight, and to stay the course over the long term, to vindicate rights.
3) We promise to keep you informed. The life of a case ebbs and flows. Sometimes it’s very active and you will hear from counsel frequently, sometimes there is not much activity going on, for a variety of reasons.
4) We promise to put in the work. Some cases can settle early and do not require much work. But most cases are not that way. They require an investment of time and best intellectual effort to get a good result for the client.
5) We promise to be transparent. Trust is a key element in an attorney/client relationship. Not only must CEJ rely on candour from its clients, but our clients have the right to know what their counsel is doing on their behalf.
